Puzzle #36: “Up, Up, and Away”

Puzzle #36Welcome back.  The Beekeeper crew is now back from vacation, freshly rested and ready to provide you with your weekly dose of crossword satisfaction.  This week’s (slightly delayed) offering is inspired by our adventures in travel — don’t ask: it wasn’t pretty — and was mostly written while in transit.  It has, as usual, been reviewed by our esteemed panel of judges, and rated as a Wednesday on the venerable NYT difficulty scale.

As our returning visitors may have already guessed, this puzzle is available in the usual two formats:  either as an Across Lite file or a printable PNG image.

That’s right folks, we here at Beekeeper Labs have done the unthinkable and actually taken time off from work.  So severe was this deviation from the norm that we haven’t even stopped to work up a new crossword puzzle for you.  But fear not — the puzzle will appear.  It will just be a day or two late.   Check back on Friday, and we should have something for you, and stop in next Wednesday at the usual time as we return to the usual grind and the usual schedule.  We’ll see you then!

Puzzle #35: “Caesar’s Sums”

Puzzle #35Well, it’s Wednesday once again, and we’ve got a most excellent crossword for you. However, it’s been a very long day, so we’re going to just sit back and let the crossword speak for itself. Given the whole “most excellent” thing (see above), we think you’ll like what it has to say.

This crossword has been evaluated by our trusted rating panel and judged to be Wednesday level on the New York Times scale. It is available for download in either Across Lite or printable PNG format.

Puzzle #34: “Is That Your Final…?”

Puzzle #34Welcome back once again, for our next installment of “Who Wants a Free Crossword Puzzle?” Since you made it here, we’ll assume you’re a contestant and hand you your prize. (Yes, it’s one of these contests. “Everyone’s a winner!”) This puzzle has been reviewed by our panel of judges, laundered, corrected, and returned with that fresh lemony scent that we love so well. It has also been awarded a rating of “Tuesday” on the classic New York Times scale, so it may prove to be fairly accessible to newcomers, timid souls, and particularly bright house-pets. (Mr. Ed swears he got through it in seven minutes in pen, but I’ve got my doubts.)

As usual, it’s available in multiple formats: minty, fresh Across Lite or a bold, tingly PNG image. Take your pick, and happy solving.

Puzzle #31: “Chain Letter”

Puzzle #31Welcome again, and happy Wednesday. The title of this week’s puzzle is “Chain Letter”, so you know how it works: if you sent a copy of this post to five of your friends, and they each sent it to five of their friends, and each of them sent it to five friends, then you would probably have annoyed 155 different friends, acquaintances, and complete strangers. Luckily, that’s just the name of the puzzle, not a set of instructions. So let’s just work the puzzle, already, and leave the spam to the professionals. (Seriously folks, chain letters are illegal under U.S. federal law. Don’t take me up on the joke.)

Our panel of dedicated reviewers, all of whom practice proper e-mail etiquette, have inspected this puzzle. They’ve folded, spindled and mutilated it until it was fit for public consumption, and they have pronounced it to be roughly a Thursday level of difficulty. If you feel up to the challenge, you can grab a copy in your favorite format: either Across Lite or a printable PNG image. In either case, no postage should be required.

Puzzle #30: “Manhattan Cocktail”

Puzzle #30Welcome once again.  Hopefully, you’ve got your #2 pencil sharpened and your books all stowed away, because it’s time to dive into a new crossword.  This week’s crossword was inspired, oddly enough, from one of the advertisements that I’ve sometimes spotted on the side of this blog.  I won’t tell you which one — that would give away the theme — but you’ll likely see it again if you keep your eye out.  Why take a theme from such an odd source?  Basically, you take your inspiration wherever you can get it.

This puzzle has not yet been rated by our loyal panel of reviewers, but  you will most likely find it to be around a Tuesday/Wednesday difficulty level on the New York Times scale.

Once again, you can take your pick of two different formats:  feel free to download either the Across Lite version or the printable PNG image.  Either one is equally likely to contain your minimum RDA of OREOs, OLEO, and BRAISED EMU.

Puzzle #29: “In a Rut”

Puzzle #29Hello again, and happy Wednesday to all of you. This week’s puzzle carries us all the way to the land of Dilbert, and issues of corporate R&D. To anyone sneaking internet access from your cubicles in order to grab these crosswords — this one’s for you.

We here at Beekeeper Labs are proud to represent a small self-owned software company which is unanswerable to any corporate bureaucracy. We are therefore freely empowered to make all of our own mistakes and blunders rather than having them forced upon us by our pointy-haired bosses. This is the American Dream.

The powers that be have decided to let you opt into one of two format offerings: either Across Lite or a printable PNG image.
